Interior design in Seremban mostly means planning and building the fixed parts of a home: kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, TV walls, storage and the wiring and tiling around them. For a typical landed house the work takes about 4 to 8 weeks with us, and PropertyGuru Malaysia's 2026 guide puts a mid-range renovation at RM120 to RM200 per square foot. The best thing you can do is settle the layout and power points before any tiler or electrician starts.
In short:
- Most of the budget goes to carpentry and building work, not to drawings.
- Measure, agree the layout, finish the wet works, measure again, then build.
- A new unit in Sendayan or Seremban 2 moves faster than an older house in town.
- Plywood with a laminate finish is the safer choice for humid kitchens.
- Prepare your floor plan, appliance list and budget before the first meeting.

What does interior design cover in a Seremban home?
In most Seremban homes, interior design covers the layout of each room and the built-in furniture that fills it. That means the kitchen run, bedroom wardrobes, a TV wall, a shoe cabinet, a study desk and sometimes a display cabinet in the dining area.
It also covers the decisions around that furniture. Where the sockets go. Where the wet and dry kitchen split sits. How high the ceiling drop is. Which wall gets the tall units.
Loose furniture, curtains and decor are usually chosen by the owner afterwards. Some homeowners hire a stylist for that, but most families here spend their money on the fixed pieces that stay with the house.
A floor-to-ceiling display cabinet: closed storage above and at the sides, open shelves and drawers in the middle.
How does the process work with a local workshop?
With a local workshop, the same team measures your house, draws the cabinets, builds them and installs them. Here is the order a typical job follows.
- First visit and measure. We see the empty house, take measurements and listen to how you use each room.
- Layout and drawings. We draw every cabinet and mark socket, switch and water points on the plan.
- Quotation and material choice. You pick board, finish, worktop and hardware. Prices follow from those choices.
- Building works. Hacking, plumbing, wiring, plaster ceiling, tiling and painting are done first.
- Final measure. Once the tiles and ceiling are in, we measure again, because tiles and plaster change the room size.
- Workshop production. Boards are cut and edge-banded in our workshop in Galla Industrial Park, Seremban.
- Installation and handover. The same team installs, adjusts the doors and walks through a checklist with you.
No outside contractor sits between you and the workshop, so a question about a gap or a hinge goes straight to the person who made it. You can also ask to visit the workshop before you decide.

How much does interior design cost in Seremban in 2026?
There is no fixed price, but published 2026 ranges give you a starting point. Most of the cost is materials and labour for the carpentry and building work.
| What you are pricing | Published 2026 figure |
|---|---|
| Per square foot, cheapest to premium | RM20 to RM150 (iProperty Malaysia) |
| Per square foot, a mid-range job | RM120 to RM200 (PropertyGuru Malaysia) |
| One kitchen, from simple to high-end | RM10,000 to RM100,000 (PropertyGuru Malaysia) |
| Living room plus bedrooms, built-ins included | RM10,000 to RM70,000 (PropertyGuru Malaysia) |
| A single basic built-in piece | RM3,000 to RM6,000 (PropertyGuru Malaysia) |
Our own published bands are simpler. A small 10-ft kitchen, base and wall units with a laminate worktop, begins at around RM 9,000. Bigger kitchens, L-shapes and anything with a quartz or sintered stone top usually land between RM15,000 and RM50,000, set by length and finish.
Hold back a buffer as well: PropertyGuru Malaysia's 2026 guide puts it at 10 to 20 percent of the total. In an older house, that buffer often pays for wiring or pipes found once a wall is opened.

How long does a renovation in Seremban take?
A typical landed-house renovation takes 4 to 8 weeks with us, depending on scope. Where your house falls in that range depends mostly on how much building work comes before the carpentry.
| Type of house | What usually happens | Where it lands |
|---|---|---|
| New handover unit in Sendayan, Seremban 2 or Nilai | Tiles and paint already done. Mostly measure, build and install. | Short end |
| Terrace house with a few changes | Some new points, maybe a wet kitchen extension, then carpentry. | Middle |
| Older house in Seremban town | Hacking, rewiring, new pipes and tiles before any cabinet goes in. | Long end |
New estates in the Sendayan, Seremban 2 and Nilai areas usually hand over bare. You choose wardrobes and kitchen layouts before there is any furniture to judge against, so the drawings matter more.
Older terrace houses in town often hide surprises. Old wiring, a cracked floor slab or leaking pipes add days before the cabinets can go in.
Which materials work best in a humid climate?
For Seremban homes we recommend plywood for the cabinet body and laminate (HPL) on the faces. Plywood holds screws well and copes better with damp air than particle board. Laminate is hard-wearing and easy to wipe.
Humidity matters most in two places. The first is the wet kitchen, where steam, water and heavy cooking hit the cabinets every day. The second is any wardrobe on an outside wall, where damp can build up behind the back panel.
Two simple habits help. Seal every cut edge around the sink and pipes. Leave a small gap or vent behind tall units on outside walls so air can move.
We don't build aluminium cabinets. If you are comparing boards, our material selection guide covers the options side by side.
A bedroom we built: wall-mounted headboard with lighting behind it, plus a built-in wardrobe and bedside drawers in one finish.
What should you prepare before the first meeting?
Prepare a floor plan, photos and a short list of how you live in the house. These let the first meeting produce a real layout instead of a general chat.
Before you meet anyone, have these ready:
- Floor plan or the developer's layout drawing, with measurements if you have them
- Photos of every wall you want to build on, including windows and existing points
- A list of appliances with sizes: fridge, hob, hood, oven, washing machine, TV
- Where you want the TV, fridge and washing machine to stand
- Whether you cook heavily (this decides the wet and dry kitchen split)
- A rough budget, plus 10 to 20 percent set aside
- Your target move-in date, so the schedule works backwards from it
Before you sign, ask:
- Who measures, who builds and who installs? Is it the same team?
- What board and finish is quoted for carcass, doors and shelves?
- Does the quote list hardware brands, worktop thickness and every cabinet by size?
- When is the final measure taken: before or after tiling?
- Can I see a past job or visit the workshop?

Common questions about this topic
How much does interior design cost in Seremban in 2026?
Most of the bill is the carpentry and building work, not the drawings. PropertyGuru Malaysia's 2026 guide gives RM120 to RM200 per square foot for a mid-range renovation and RM10,000 to RM100,000 for a kitchen. At Fatt Interior, a compact 10-ft laminate-top kitchen starts from about RM 9,000. Keep 10 to 20 percent aside for surprises.
How long does a house renovation take in Seremban?
Fatt Interior plans a typical landed-house renovation at 4 to 8 weeks, depending on scope. A new handover unit that only needs carpentry sits at the short end. An older terrace that needs hacking, rewiring or new tiles before any cabinet goes in sits at the long end.
Do I need an interior designer or can I go straight to a carpentry workshop?
If most of your budget is kitchen cabinets, wardrobes and built-ins, going straight to a workshop that measures, draws and installs is usually enough. You still get layout drawings, but from the people who make the furniture. Hire a separate designer when you want a full styling concept, lighting design or structural changes.
What should I prepare before meeting a renovation company in Seremban?
Bring your floor plan or the developer's layout, photos of each wall you want to build on, a list of appliances with their sizes, and a rough budget. Note where you want the TV, fridge, hob and washing machine. With these ready, the first meeting turns into a real layout instead of general talk.
Which cabinet material suits Seremban's humid weather?
A plywood carcass with a laminate (HPL) finish handles humidity and kitchen steam well, and it is what Fatt Interior recommends. AmpQuartz (2026) lists solid plywood cabinets at RM330 to RM600 per running foot. Seal any cut edge near the sink, because water at the edges is what swells a board.
